What are the responsibilities and job description for the Yard Worker position at Taldeco LLC?
We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Yard Worker to join our team in our Sterling Heights Plant. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in maintaining the efficiency of our yard operations, ensuring that materials are organized and accessible for shipping and receiving. This position requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to perform heavy lifting as needed.
Shift: 1st (Monday -Friday: 6 am - 4:30 pm)
Pay: $20/hr (depending on experience)
Responsibilities
- Operate Hi-Lo & combilift to lift truck equipment safely and efficiently to move materials within the yard.
- Assist with shipping and receiving tasks, ensuring accurate documentation and inventory control.
- Load and unload materials from trucks, ensuring proper handling to prevent damage.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment in accordance with OSHA standards.
- Perform regular inspections of equipment to ensure safe operation and report any mechanical issues.
- Collaborate with team members to optimize workflow within the distribution center.
- Adhere to all safety protocols while performing heavy lifting and operating machinery.
Experience
- Previous experience in a steel shop/warehouse or construction environment is preferred.
- Need to be able to read a tape measure
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems is a plus.
- Mechanical knowledge related to equipment operation is beneficial.
- Ability to lift heavy items consistently throughout the shift.
- Ability to work outside
