- Maintain Equipment and Parts:
- Monitor equipment and machinery to identify systems that may be about to fail.
- Repair and calibrate instrumentation
- Trouble shoot equipment using PLC logic
- Repair/replace electrical components as needed to restore functionality
- Perform Process Improvement:
- Monitor processes to identify areas of opportunity for improvement.
- Improve processing and packaging systems throughout plant to increase efficiencies.
- Perform special projects as required.
- Write/modify PLC programs as needed.
- Add new inputs/outputs as needed.
- Fabricate enclosures for electrical equipment as required.
- Identify needed repairs.
- Utilize all maintenance tools, equipment and materials appropriately.
- Ensure that repairs are cost effective.
- Make repairs in a timely manner.
- Follow GMPs when making repairs.
- Perform Preventative Maintenance:
- Identify possible trouble areas.
- Adjust/clean equipment and machinery as required.
- Correct causes and problems.
- Identify causes of premature breakdowns.
- Complete Paperwork:
- Complete log entries.
- Complete parts usage sheet.
- Fill out work orders for work completed or needed.
- Fill out parts orders.
- Complete daily shift reports.
- Operate Equipment as Needed :
- Operate equipment to check for needed repairs or check for repairs made.
- Drive forklifts and trucks as needed, following all safety rules.
- Maintain GMPs:
- Perform both on-going and week-ending sanitation duties as required.
- Ensure cleaning procedures are followed.
- Use proper cleaning/sanitizing chemical-handling procedures and equipment.
- Maintain a clean work area; keep floors swept, brooms, squeegees, etc. in proper place. Empty trash cans/bins as needed.
- Responsible for addressing potential food safety and quality issues of the product.
- Maintain personal cleanliness, wash hands frequently, wear hairnet, wear sanitary gloves.
- Do not store chemicals too close to food products.
- Avoid spilling oil or cleaning fluids on food products.
- Follow color code policy.
- Follow proper procedures, practices and training.
- Be familiar with all process flow diagrams.
- Know all critical control points in all processes.
- Train co-workers as needed:
- Exchange information and procedures on reading and interpreting equipment manuals.
- Train co-workers in correct trouble shooting procedures.
- Instruct operators in correct operation, using theory and GMP practices.
- Perform Leadership Roles as Required:
- Insure operators are operating equipment correctly.
- Perform job functions and conduct self in a confident and professional manner
- Suggest correct required procedures to co-worker.
- Informs Supervisor on a timely basis all operational problems encountered and what action was taken to resolve the problems with recommendations to prevent reoccurrences.This includes the documentation of operation trouble spots to corrective action.
- Conducts oneself in a professional manner, working safely, taking precautions in preventing product and/or equipment damages and losses, cooperating with co-workers and maintaining good housekeeping practices at all times.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma preferred; General Education Degree (GED) required.One to three-months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English, and interpret documents such as specifications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to speak effectively with co-workers and supervisors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to calculate figures and add, subtract, multiply and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals and percentages.Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS OR OTHER:
- Ability to use a computer and Microsoft Office programs.
- Ability to obtain forklift certification.
