Overview

The Surgical Technician plays a crucial role in operating rooms, assisting surgical teams before, during, and after surgical procedures. This position is essential in ensuring that surgeries are conducted safely and efficiently by preparing the operating room, handling surgical instruments, and supporting doctors and nurses throughout the operation. Surgical Techs are responsible for maintaining a sterile environment and anticipating the needs of the surgical team, thus contributing significantly to patient care and recovery. Their expertise not only enhances the efficacy of surgical procedures but also plays a part in improving patient outcomes. By ensuring that all instruments are properly sterilized and ready for use, Surgical Technicians are integral in reducing the risk of infections and complications. Key Responsibilities

• Prepare operating rooms before surgeries.
• Maintain a sterile field during surgeries.
• Assist surgeons by passing instruments and supplies.
• Handle and prepare surgical instruments.
• Anticipate the needs of the surgical team.
• Monitor patients' vital signs during operations.
• Assist in applying dressings and bandages.
• Maintain inventory of surgical supplies.
• Assist with patient transfer to the operating table.
• Prepare patients for surgery by ensuring comfort and positioning.
• Participate in the cleaning and sterilization of instruments post-surgery.
• Collaborate with surgical staff to ensure workflows.
• Report any issues or concerns to the supervising nurse or surgeon.
• Educate patients and families regarding pre and post-surgery care.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited surgical technology program.
• Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred.
• Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a surgical environment.
• Knowledge of surgical instruments and procedures.
• Strong understanding of sterile techniques.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Excellent manual dexterity and coordination.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Effective communication skills with healthcare teams.
• Ability to follow directions and protocols accurately.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends.
