Production Supervisor Needed for Aerospace/Aircraft Manufacturing Operation
The company is experiencing a surge in production and staff to support increased demand. This role will be integral in that effort, responsible for hiring/training new assembly personnel and leading cross-training programs for existing staff members.
This individual will collaborate with internal stakeholders to improve processes, including work instructions, and address current bottlenecks to production.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise, train, and mentor a team of assembly technicians (10-15) fostering a culture of responsibility, discipline, and empowerment.
- Provide clear work assignments, monitor performance, and maintain a positive, compliant work environment.
- Conduct performance evaluations, make hiring decisions, and implement disciplinary actions when necessary.
- Ensure all assembly activities meet established quality standards, safety protocols, and deadlines.
- Coordinate daily tasks to align with production schedules and organizational goals.
- Oversee the accurate interpretation and application of work instructions, blueprints, and technical documentation.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in quality, throughput, and assembly processes.
- Identify and resolve production bottlenecks and quality concerns using root cause analysis techniques.
- Partner with internal teams on process improvement projects and promote adherence to lean manufacturing principles.
- Oversee the resolution of customer quality issues, collaborating with engineering and quality assurance teams.
- Lead pre-job briefs and post-job reviews to ensure alignment with customer expectations.
- Maintain a safe and organized workspace, ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations and company policies.
- Manage inventory levels to ensure the availability of critical components for uninterrupted assembly operations.
- Develop and enforce production schedules, ensuring adherence to timelines and minimizing delays.
- Monitor and optimize workstation layouts and workflows to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
- Collaborate with the supply chain team to address material shortages and implement contingency plans.
- Track and analyze production metrics to identify trends and drive data-driven decision-making.
- Support the implementation of new technologies and equipment to enhance production capabilities.
- Ensure that assembly documentation is accurate and up-to-date to reflect current practices and standards.
Experience:
- 5 years in assembly or manufacturing leadership, preferably in aerospace or related industries.
- Hands-on experience in mechanical assembly and precision craftsmanship, including using tools, gauges, and inspection equipment.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical documentation, blueprints, and assembly instructions.
- Competence in using software tools such as Microsoft Office and ERP systems for reporting and communication.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
