What You’ll Do
- Collect and analyze data from members, such as assets, income, debts, and employment status.
- Advise members on loan options, terms, and the best financial solutions based on their needs.
- Analyze credit reports, income documentation, and financial histories to assess loan risk and determine eligibility.
- Make decisions on loan approvals or denials within established guidelines or recommend loans for further approval by management.
- Ensure all required loan documentation is complete and accurate, following credit union policies and regulatory guidelines.
- Monitor loan performance, including payment schedules and delinquencies, and work with members to address any issues.
- Maintain a strong knowledge of federal, state, and local lending laws and communicate them clearly to members.
- Build strong relationships with members by assessing their financial needs and offering personalized loan solutions.
- Identify potential risks and work to mitigate losses while ensuring responsible lending practices.
- Provide excellent customer service to ensure member satisfaction and retention.
- Ensure compliance with all credit union guidelines and regulatory requirements.
- Act as a key representative of the credit union to promote its loan products and member services within the field of membership, particularly within the Brookland Baptist Church community.
- Conduct outreach and presentations to prospective members and community partners to generate new membership and loan opportunities.
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop and implement strategies to grow the credit union’s loan portfolio.
- Attend events, participate in community functions, and represent the credit union in a professional and engaging manner.
- Identify opportunities to cross-sell products and services and educate members about the full range of offerings available.
- Consistently seek new ways to enhance the credit union’s visibility, relevance, and value in the community.
- A high school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred).
- One to two years of experience in lending, loan origination, or financial services.
- Strong working knowledge of credit union products, services, and loan procedures.
- A member-first mindset with a proven track record of excellent customer service.
- Strong interpersonal skills and confidence in presenting to groups or individuals.
- Ability to build relationships and engage effectively with members and community partners.
- Experience with analyzing credit reports, verifying income, and assessing risk.
- Familiarity with loan regulations and compliance requirements.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Initiative and drive to meet sales goals and contribute to the growth of the credit union.
- A professional and positive demeanor with a sincere commitment to serving others.
