Job Description
- The Audio-Visual Engineer Consultant must be a technology specialist with in-depth knowledge and experience conceptualizing, designing, and operating AV systems.
- The candidate will work on designing, installing, and supporting cutting-edge AV conferencing solutions, bringing designs to fruition, test systems, diagnose issues, and ensure optimal performance and managing of audio/visual projects from planning stages to completion, providing recommendations to mitigate project risks.
Primary Responsibilities
- Work within a team with internal customers to conceptualize, design and incorporate A/V systems required to support a variety of A/V events and room configurations; provide onsite and / or remote support for company A/V systems, and large company events and meetings requiring A/V and multimedia.
- Assist with the transport, set-up/breakdown, testing, troubleshooting and operation of audio/visual systems for supporting, primarily, large off-site committee and working group meetings.
- Consult on A/V system (LED displays, LCD displays, video walls, CMS) requirements and costs estimates.
- Design and specify power & data requirements for A/V systems; create detailed system diagrams and cabling line drawings for A/V systems.
- Support and perform the commissioning process on site in coordination with the install team.
- Design, select and specify hardware, cabling, and software for systems such as: Media players, video processors, video distribution systems, Computer systems, graphics cards, audio cards, network cards, Content management systems (CMS); Show control systems: Crestron, Extron, AMX, KVM systems, multi-viewers, video matrices; Collaboration Platforms: Microsoft Teams, Cisco Webex & Zoom; Interactive systems: cameras, sensors, touch interfaces, Projection mapping systems: projectors, lenses.
- Maintain and ensure proper operational status of audio/visual equipment, including arranging for service, product life cycle and road map; communicate impact to client support and users.
- Troubleshoot and report on issues resolution.
- Recommend and assist to implement enhancements to A/V service delivery; research, evaluate and recommend new audio-visual products and technologies for purposes of expanding offerings applicable to the business.
- Help develop and assist with implementation of design processes and A/V drawing standards and
- assist with the development and implementation of technical training programs.
Minimum Requirements / Education
- 5 - 7 years of experience in designing and implementing A/V systems; strong technical background in A/V systems, cabling, and hardware
- Ability to move/load/unload equipment up to 50lbs or greater
- Ability to travel between Holyoke and other New England cities in support of meetings and events
- Experience working within a project team
- Ability to analyze and work from preliminary renderings and narratives; attention to detail
- Self-motivated and able to anticipate the needs of the team without daily instruction
- Excellent verbal, and written communication skills, coupled with creativity in problem-solving
