The Drafter will be responsible for the development and creation of telecommunication designs and drawing deliverables in a team environment. This role requires collaboration with construction managers, engineers, and municipalities to ensure that civil, mechanical, and electrical designs are developed according to the appropriate standards and guidelines. The Drafter will also play a key role in supporting complex projects, leading process improvement initiatives, and ensuring the quality and efficiency of designs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design Interpretation: Convert proposed designs and redlines into standard construction deliverables, ensuring accuracy and compliance with guidelines.
  • Program Utilization: Use designated software programs (e.g., AutoCAD) to complete tasks within established timeframes, proactively identifying and addressing potential risks or barriers.
  • Template Development: Assist in the creation and maintenance of templates used for civil, mechanical, and electrical designs, ensuring consistency and accuracy.
  • Block Library Management: Lead the development and maintenance of a civil, mechanical, and electrical block library for efficient design work.
  • Reporting and Cost Savings: Assist management with reporting related to cost savings, completed designs, and project progress.
  • Quality Control: Review and lead the quality control process for civil, mechanical, and electrical designs completed by the team before final submission to field teams, permitting teams, or service partners.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineers and design teams to solve complex design issues, providing support for the resolution of challenges.
  • Technical Development: Drive continuous development of technical knowledge, software proficiency, and understanding of customer configurations.
  • Training Support: Contribute to the development and execution of training materials and technical documentation to enhance team capabilities.
  • Process Improvement: Propose and implement innovative solutions aimed at improving the overall design process, quality, and efficiency.
  • Additional Projects: Support other projects as assigned or required to meet team and organizational goals.

Education & Certifications:

  • Required: AutoCAD certificate or equivalent technical degree or professional experience.
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Drafting.

Experience & Minimum Requirements:

  • Required: Proficiency in AutoCAD is essential.
  • Experience: 1 to 8 years of experience working in an Engineering/Design Department, with a focus on telecommunications or similar industries.
  • Preferred: Experience in wireless communications is a plus.

  • Customer Service: Strong customer service skills, ensuring designs and deliverables meet the needs of internal and external customers.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; ability to learn and adapt to specialized software systems and tools.
  • Quality Assurance: Familiarity with Quality Assurance methods and practices, ensuring that designs meet or exceed standards.
  • Construction Drawings: Ability to comprehend and interpret survey and construction drawings to inform design decisions.
