Job Description
The Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) Manager or Supervisor is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and operations of the ambulatory surgery center. This role ensures high-quality, cost-effective, and compliant outpatient surgical services while optimizing patient care, efficiency, and financial performance. The ASC Manager/Supervisor collaborates with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nursing staff, and executive leadership to maintain smooth operations and uphold regulatory and accreditation standards.
Key Responsibilities: Operations Management:
- Oversee the daily operations of the ASC, including surgical scheduling, patient flow, and staff assignments.
- Assist in creation and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure efficiency, patient safety, and high-quality care.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), including case volume, turnover times, and patient outcomes.
Financial & Budget Oversight:
- Manage the ASC s financial performance, including budgeting, revenue cycle management, and cost control.
- Work closely with billing, coding, and payer contracting teams to optimize reimbursements.
- Identify opportunities for operational cost savings and increased profitability.
Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance:
- Ensure full compliance with all state, federal, and accreditation standards (e.g., CMS, AAAHC, Joint Commission, OSHA).
- Oversee infection control practices, patient safety initiatives, and quality improvement programs.
- Maintain and update ASC policies and procedures in accordance with best practices and regulatory changes.
Physician & Patient Relations:
- Serve as a liaison between the ASC, surgeons, anesthesia providers, and referring physicians.
- Address patient concerns and ensure a high level of patient satisfaction.
- Work collaboratively with marketing and outreach teams to promote ASC services.
