Overview:
- The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for managing cross functional projects in the Quality organization - including organizing teams, managing project schedules, developing project metrics, and developing material that will be presented in governance meetings. This role will collaborate with Clinical Operations and Clinical Development stakeholders, as well as with other senior leadership within the Quality organization and within the Business Operations PMO.
What this manager is looking for:
- MH: Very senior Pharma PM with experience with Process Improvement projects (might consider someone with a title like Business Partner, Business Process Analyst, etc. if they have strong core PM skills and experience); GCP; Lean Six Sigma
- NTH: Quality/Regulatory experience now a strong NTH, but this person should definitely be on the business side, non-IT
- All projects are business initiatives (not clinical initiatives)
- Lean Six Sigma, automation, structure (process dev and optimization)
- Ex of a project: Creating a risk management framework
- Working with the risk management team to put together a risk management framework (GCP, GVP, GLP) that program leads will use to report risks/issues into a central place, layer analytics on top of that to develop dashboards
- Tools: Excel, Smartsheet
- Needs someone to stay in their lane in some ways - someone who is self aware that they are not a Quality or Inspection Readiness SME
Required Knowledge and Experience:
- Must be comfortable with data
- Some financial experience wouldn't hurt it, but it doesn't need to be heavy - things like cost benefit analysis and cost savings (not things like budget, invoices, POs, revenue recognition)
- Ensure deliverables are monitored to the agreed upon timelines
- Work with teams to resolve and find solutions to challenges as they come up, escalate project and scheduling challenges that are unable to be resolved
- Speak to strategy and risk mitigation beyond just execution of tasks
- Collaborate with teams to develop metrics to measure progress and highlight any areas of focus
- Set-up and facilitate routine meetings to drive the project and create awareness
- Create meeting materials used for project status updates at governance meetings.
- Project management experience in biopharmaceutical or biotechnology industry, specifically in Quality space
- Demonstrated proficiency in managing large-scale, complex projects
- Experience interfacing with high-level stakeholders (VPs)
- Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, computer science, economics or other discipline requiring quantitative skills preferred
- Demonstrated leadership presence
- Flexibility, humility and tenacity
- Excellent presentation skills and ability to clearly and succinctly express ideas
- Experience facilitating project meetings and effectively and respectfully holding team members accountable for status, deliverables and the timely escalation of blockers
- Unfailing commitment to representing project status in an accurate and timely manner, weekly or in near real time when changes occur
- Demonstrate an analytical, objective, and strategic mindset and a drive to learn new technologies
- Analyze processes and systems, identifying potential for change
- Possess an understanding of technology solutions implemented in the past
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Experience practicing project feature prioritization and backlog grooming methods
- Experience with Project and Portfolio Management (PPM) tools and reports (ie. Microsoft Suite, Smartsheet, etc).
