Position Summary

• Primary Unit: Medical-Surgical patients with an oncology history, occasional chemotherapy administration.
• Shift: Nights.
• Target Ratios: 1:6-7.
  
  

Required Skills/Certifications/Experience

• Experience:
• Minimum of 1 year (inpatient setting experience required).
• Open to first-time travelers.
• Certifications:
• BLS: Required.
• Chemotherapy Administration Certification: Required prior to start (can be obtained pre-contract).
• Skills:
• Chemo administration (IV, PO, injection).
• Med/Surg expertise.
• Colostomy care, PICC line management, blood product administration, central/peripheral line care, wound vac, and more.
• Isolation precautions and non-invasive airway management.

Preferred Skills/Certifications/Experience

• CPI certification.
• OCN certification.
• Charge nurse experience.
  
  

Job Requirements

• Time Off Policy:
• RTO must be submitted at booking (max 7 days).
• Call-offs may require makeup shifts; excessive RTO could lead to cancellation/DNR.
• Floating:
• Required to float to similar units, ED inpatient holding, or alternate care locations.
• Weekend Requirement:
• Every other weekend.
• Call:
• Required if canceled on a pre-scheduled shift.
• Special Circumstances:
• Participation in Storm/Hurricane Team.
• Attendance required during catastrophic events, mass casualties, or disasters.

Patient Information

• Common Diagnoses:
• AKI, Sepsis, Cancer, Septic shock, Pain, ARF, Diabetic foot ulcers, etc.
• Census & Ratios:
• Daily census: 42 patients.

Additional Details

• Unit Systems: PYXIS, EPIC, SBAR.
• Orientation: 24 hours (2 shifts).
• Scrubs: Navy blue and white.
• Testing: Must pass EKG testing prior to the start.
