Product Designer (Motion Design) Job Summary: Talent Software Services is in search of a Product Designer (Motion Design) for a contract position in Redmond, WA. The opportunity will be five months with a strong chance for a long-term extension. Position Summary: Join our team and contribute to the design work for Windows 365, focusing specifically on the Windows app. This role involves tasks in UX design, motion design, and visual design. The Cloud Experiences team is working hard to empower every person and every organization on the planet by bringing Windows and Cloud Computing closer together. Within the Windows Cloud Experiences Design team, we work hard to create products that help people be productive, connected, and empowered from anywhere. Most importantly, we work to make products people love. As a member of our team, you will be part of a dynamic, diverse, and collaborative group of design, research, and content experts who are passionate about solving complex design challenges and delivering delightful experiences to commercial customers and consumers. You will be responsible for exploring, designing, prototyping, testing, and delivering best-in-class experiences across a wide range of business areas. You will work closely with engineers, product managers, and other designers to understand user needs, define design requirements, and iterate on feedback. Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
- Collaborate with engineering and perform QAs to ensure design quality. Under guidance, contribute to visual designs by producing the visual language for a product.
- Create wireframes, journey maps, user scenarios, and other design elements to support interaction design. Participate in product UX improvements by creating interaction models.
- Take ownership of a sub-system from concept to delivery in conjunction with peers and under the guidance of senior team members. Understand the relationship between sub-system and overall product architecture to ensure all parts work well with the whole product.
- Clearly communicate your work to peers and managers within your immediate team. Work alongside a senior team member to create a compelling narrative for a specific product or feature.
- Help creative team members, program managers, and developers define product features. Participate in one study at a time as you help deliver product design results.
- Craft new design components and refine our design systems.
- Work directly with program managers, engineers, and other product team members to deliver high-quality design work to be built and shipped to the world.
- 20%: Meetings and collaboration with other designers and product managers.
- 80%: Heads-down time working on design tasks using tools like Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
Qualifications:
- <>Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or related field OR equivalent experience (e.g., experience using design thinking to solve problems) OR 2-4 years of designing high-quality digital product experiences end-to-end.
- <>Experience with industry-standard design tools (Figma, Sketch, Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects as examples).
- <>Minimum 2 years experience with UX design.
- <>Minimum 2 years experience with motion design and visual design.
- <>Minimum 2 years experience with design tools like Figma and Adobe.
- Years of Experience Required: A couple of years of experience in shipping products in a technology field through UX design. Experience in UX design, motion design, and visual design is ideal, with a portfolio showcasing your work.
- Degrees or Certifications Required: A bachelor's degree is required. A master's degree in HCI or design is a plus but not mandatory.
- Best vs. Average: The ideal resume would contain experience in UX design, motion design, visual design, and a couple of years of experience in shipping products in a technology field, along with a portfolio showcasing your work.
- Performance Indicators: Performance will be assessed based on the quality of work delivered, timeliness in completing tasks and deliverables, and ability to collaborate effectively with other team members, including designers and product managers.
Preferred:
- Master's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human-Computer Interaction, OR related field AND 1 year(s) of relevant internship/work experience working in product OR service design OR Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human-Computer Interaction, OR related field AND 2 years of related work experience working in product OR service design OR equivalent experience (e.g., experience using design thinking to solve problems).
- Experience designing for Mobile, Tablet, and Desktop / Motion Design skills / Visual Design / UX Design / UI / Design.
