Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
- Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants, (COT) provide support to students in the area of occupational therapy, as directed by a supervising Occupational Therapist.
- The COTA assists in the process of screening/evaluation, and the implementation of intervention services.
- They work with students identified with, or suspected of having disabilities that interfere with their ability to perform daily life activities and limit access to their educational program.
- A COTA implements individually designed interventions based on occupational performance deficits in the areas of personal care, student interaction skills, process skills, and play/& community integration.
- The interventions are planned with the supervising occupational therapist.
- In addition, the COTA is responsible for taking daily notes on therapeutic progress and documenting in quarterly reports.
- He/she must be knowledgeable about the policies and procedures regarding Special Education within the Agency and be capable of carrying-out therapy plans directed by the occupational therapist.
- The COTA participates in MIPS (Medicaid in Public Schools) billing.

- Experience Required TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Two years therapy experience Pediatric therapy experience Experience working with sensory impaired individuals Experience working with handicapped children
- Experience Preferred
- Education Required Must be able to pass FBI and State background check Defensive Driver Training Program to be completed by all agency personnel that drive on State business Completion/Graduation from Accredited Occupational Therapy Program Client Occupational Therapist License Current Client Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant, (COTA) license AZ Fingerprint Clearance Card AHCCCS number for Medicaid billing within four months of hire.
