Planner/Buyer
Location: Novi, MI
Shift: Day shift/1st shift
Pay: $28-$32/hour
Job Summary:
The Planner is responsible for planning and coordinating the procurement of materials and services required for manufacturing operations. This role focuses on ensuring that the necessary materials are available to meet production schedules while e ectively managing relationships with suppliers to ensure on time delivery and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
Planning:
• Develop and maintain material plans aligned with production schedules and sales forecasts.
• Analyze production requirements to determine precise material needs and service requirements.
• Create, issue, and manage purchase orders to ensure timely procurement of materials and services.
Supplier Coordination:
• Collaborate with suppliers to establish delivery schedules that meet production demands.
• Evaluate and monitor supplier performance to ensure reliability, quality and on time delivery.
• Maintain strong relationships with suppliers to facilitate e ective communication and resolve any delivery issues.
Inventory Management:
• Monitor inventory levels to ensure materials are available as required while minimizing excess stock.
• Increase communication and collaboration with the inventory team to strengthen visibility of goods on hand and enhance inventory accuracy.
• Conduct regular walkabouts on the floor with the inventory team to assess inventory status and address any discrepancies or issues directly.
• Implement inventory control practices to reduce waste and avoid stockouts.
• Conduct regular inventory reviews to align procurement with current and future production needs.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
• Analyze material usage trends to inform purchasing decisions and optimize inventory levels.
• Generate reports on order status, supplier performance, and material availability for management review.
• Provide recommendations for improving planning processes and supplier relationships.
Continuous Improvement:
• Identify opportunities for process improvements in planning.
• Implement best practices in supplier management and material procurement to enhance e iciency and accuracy.
Qualifications:
• Supply Chain Management certification, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of experience in planning, procurement, or supply chain management.
• Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools (e.g., Excel, ERP systems).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for e ective collaboration with suppliers and internal teams.
• Knowledge of procurement processes and inventory management principles.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
