Responsibilities
Assists physicians in diagnosing as well as treating heart or cardiac, and blood vessel or peripheral vascular ailments; Responsible for the total care of test devices or equipment and for explaining procedures and processes to patients and comparing finding to the standards to determine any problems.
- Performs routine EKG's and rhythm strips
- Responds to Stat EKG's and attends CODE BLUE situations
- Observes and reports potentially lethal arrhythmias (critical Values) to the nurse or physician
- Completes preparation of 12 lead EKG tracings for processing and physician interpretation
- Charges for tests completed
- Edits EKG's interpreted by the cardiologist and Prepares for distribution to the patient's medical record
- Prepares, connects, and disconnects holter equipment
- Maintains equipment by daily checking, stocking and cleaning
