Job Overview:
- We are looking for a skilled Senior Active Directory Engineer to support and maintain a mixed environment of Windows and RedHat Linux servers. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with both operating systems, with a primary focus on Windows, and the ability to manage and support Linux-based systems. This role involves deploying and maintaining infrastructure using tools like Ansible Tower, as well as providing operational support for both Windows and RedHat environments.
- In addition to technical expertise, the ideal candidate must possess strong soft skills to interact effectively with both the team and end users in a friendly, professional manner. A key aspect of this role will be fostering positive collaboration, focusing on helping both the team and end users equally, ensuring smooth communication and support in a fast-paced enterprise environment. You will be part of a dynamic team responsible for the day-to-day management, troubleshooting, and optimization of these systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Support: Provide ongoing operational support for a mixed environment of Windows OS and RedHat Linux servers, ensuring both systems run efficiently and reliably.
- Primary Windows OS Support: Take the lead in supporting Windows-based environments while also managing and supporting RedHat Linux servers in parallel.
- Infrastructure Management & Automation: Deploy, manage, and automate infrastructure tasks using Ansible Tower, streamlining processes for system configuration and maintenance.
- Active Directory Integration: Collaborate with the team to manage Active Directory, ensuring seamless user management, authentication, and system integration across both Windows and Linux environments.
- VMware & Virtualization Management: Utilize VMware and other virtualization technologies (e.g., ESXi, vCenter) for deploying, configuring, and maintaining virtualized systems.
- Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution: Proactively troubleshoot and resolve system issues related to both Windows and RedHat Linux operating systems, as well as the applications running on these platforms.
- Performance & Security Management: Assist with server performance tuning, ongoing system monitoring, patch management, and applying security updates to ensure optimal system health and security.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with a team of 7 full-time employees and contractors to manage and support a diverse operating system environment, ensuring cohesive and efficient teamwork.
- Compliance & Documentation: Ensure systems meet company compliance standards and contribute to maintaining comprehensive documentation, including configuration guides, troubleshooting procedures, and operational processes.
Job Requirements:
- Proficiency in Windows OS: Extensive experience working with Windows operating systems, as it is the primary environment in use.
- Enterprise-level RedHat Linux Experience: Proven experience managing RedHat Linux in large-scale, enterprise environments, including production server setups, deployments, and ongoing support. Candidates with only in-house or personal Linux experience will not meet the requirements.
- Ansible Tower Expertise: Hands-on experience deploying, managing, and automating servers using Ansible Tower, with a focus on efficient system configuration and management at scale.
- Active Directory Knowledge: Basic understanding of Active Directory for managing users, permissions, and authentication in a Windows environment.
- Virtualization Expertise: Familiarity with VMware and virtualization technologies, including ESXi and vCenter, for managing virtualized infrastructures.
- Problem-Solving & Troubleshooting: Strong analytical skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues across both Windows and Linux operating systems, ensuring system uptime and performance.
- Communication & Remote Collaboration: Excellent communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a remote team environment, coordinating with both technical and non-technical team members.
- Time Management & Independence: Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and meet deadlines without direct supervision, maintaining high-quality results.
- Enterprise Infrastructure Knowledge: Understanding of enterprise-scale infrastructure, including large server environments, network configurations, and high-availability systems.
