Senior Credit Underwriter
Location: Phoenix, AZ
What You’ll Do
As the Senior Credit Underwriter, you will:
- Analyze and Prepare Credit Reports: Review and spread business and personal financial information, leases, rent rolls, and cash flows for businesses, real estate holdings, and individuals.
- Evaluate and Approve Credit: Produce projections, pro-forma statements, and sensitivity analyses while preparing detailed credit presentations for loan approvals or denials.
- Monitor and Manage Credit Portfolios: Conduct annual reviews, ensure compliance with loan covenants, manage ticklers, and monitor outstanding credit risks.
- Act as a Trainer and Resource: Support Relationship Managers and Junior Underwriters with guidance on interpreting financial statements and best practices in credit analysis.
- Enhance Processes and Tools: Provide input to improve technology workflows, automations, and Integro360 platform functionality.
- Uphold Regulatory Standards: Stay informed on banking regulations and ensure adherence to policies related to credit, privacy, and fair lending.
What We’re Looking For
Required Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or related field preferred.
- 5 years of experience in Commercial Banking, Credit Underwriting, or Portfolio Management.
- 5 years of SBA Underwriting experience (7A & 504 loans).
- Demonstrated expertise in analyzing financial data, identifying credit risks, and making assertive decisions on loan recommendations.
- Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills with a customer-centric mindset.
- Strong proficiency with financial software platforms (Abrigo Sageworks, FIS Horizon) and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Broad experience in C&I, CRE, and SBA lending.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements like the Bank Secrecy Act and Fair Lending regulations.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment with excellent time management and problem-solving skills.
