Location: Wilmington, NC
Duration: 12 Months Contract
Note: The position is in NC, primarily in Wilmington. We do have plants in Midland, Winston, and Hickory. If the worker is listed as based in Wilmington and the project work shifts to Midland, the worker's hotel, food, and fuel will be reimbursed while they are working in Midland. The same goes for other sites work may move to. However, one of our locations will be declared as the worker's base and no expenses will be reimbursed while working at that location. Additionally, the posting is listed as 50% travel to eliminate issues if we move resources to another project. It is likely a worker may stay in Wilmington the entire duration of their assignment with 0% travel based on the work we have to do, but there is no guarantee that it will not change.
Job Description:
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
- Perform hands-on installation support for new or modified production equipment.
- Supervise and provide direction to contract engineering techs, internal maintenance, and outside contract trades during all aspects of equipment installation and conversion such as demolition, construction, installation, testing, and debugging of production equipment.
- Perform hands-on troubleshooting, process start-up, design, and documentation of Mechanical and Electrical Systems for new or modified production equipment.
- Create and modify existing documentation to complete drawing packages, installation checklists, machine part lists, illustrations, and machine specs of production equipment.
- Provide direction to technicians to create and modify existing documentation to complete drawing packages, installation checklists, machine part lists, illustrations, and machine specs of production equipment.
- Assess the condition and usability of existing equipment for fit and function with new installation plans.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: (Majority of time will be spent on production floor working on equipment)
- Execute initial equipment set-up and debug up to the point of turnover to operations.
- Provide third level troubleshooting support, directing contract engineering techs, and trades as necessary to replace defective components and execute changes in design to solve equipment/process issues.
- Procure and expedite materials for new or modified equipment.
- Develop mechanical and electrical installation checklists and schedules. Oversee, as appropriate, the usage of these systems.
- Prepare work orders and direct maintenance personnel and/or outside contract trades in the fabrication, assembly, testing, and installation of equipment.
- Review and update installation documentation and drawings as required.
- Redline existing drawings and follow up with drafting services or oversee draftsmen as required to resolve design issues.
- Provide training to contract engineering techs, internal maintenance, and outside contract trades on new equipment installation procedures as required for the successful execution of installation activities.
- Re-design mechanical components to reduce installation cost, solve equipment interferences, and correct inadequate designs.
- Analyze and correct equipment installation practices to improve efficiencies, specifically directed toward enhancing installation schedules.
- Develop cost reduction plans for the improvement of installation projects.

Equipment or software experience preferred:
- Windows, MS Office suite including PowerPoint, Excel, Word, AutoCAD® 2023, Inventor 2023, MS Project, Pneumatic systems and schematics, Motion Control systems, Automated equipment systems
ADDITIONAL POSITION INFORMATION:
- The team is based in Wilmington, NC. This posting is for a project initially based in Wilmington. Often contractors that excel and are interested in continuing beyond the initial project may be considered for additional assignments. However, these additional projects may not be located in the same place as the initial posting. We have multiple plants in NC. Future travel requirements will vary based on project locations.
(Hours will vary with no guarantee of OT, but 10-20hrs per week is not uncommon and expected at times)
