Key Responsibilities of a Physical Therapist Assistant
The primary role of a Physical Therapist Assistant is to provide day-to-day therapeutic interventions under the supervision of a registered Physical Therapist in a rehabilitation environment.
Responsibilities include assisting the registered therapist in carrying out procedures and programs, performing routine treatment procedures in accordance with planned programs, observing, recording, and reporting conditions and reactions related to assigned duties, and maintaining accurate records.
In addition, they participate in educational activities, direct physical therapy aides regarding treatments as necessary, communicate with patient physicians, and ensure the health and safety of themselves and others.
Physical Therapist Assistants work closely with patients, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality care and achieve optimal outcomes.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- A minimum qualification is graduation from an approved therapist program.
- Current certification with the American Physical Therapy Association is also required.
- Licensure by the State in the designated geographic area is necessary for this position.
- Candidates must be able to perform tasks without posing a threat to their own or others' health and safety.
