Job Description :
Education and Experience :
- BS in Optical, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering, or AAS degree with 10 years of experience in the field of Optics
- 3 years of experience, preferably in the field of optics
- Knowledge of the manufacture of optical materials, components, and assemblies
- Knowledge of optical metrology equipment including interferometers, profilometers, & autocollimators
- Aptitude for precision hands-on optical and mechanical skills; experience with assembling close tolerance parts that may have unusual shapes or parameters
- Have a drive for continuous improvement and be flexible and willing to learn new things
- Ideal candidate would have experience in :
- Optics and optical materials
- Precision machining and measurement
- Precision alignment, positioning, and assembly
- Interferometric testing
- Manufacturing processing
- Experience in precision machining and measurement including CNC equipment and programming; use of G-code
- Experience using 3D solid modeling software; Solid modeling of fixtures & tools using Creo CAD software
- Familiarity with Mastercam
- Experience with process development in an optics shop environment
- Knowledge of plano polishing on pitch-lapping equipment
- Knowledge of optical material and coating interaction with high-power lasers at UV wavelengths
- Strong communication skills including written, verbal, and formal presentations
- Proficiency in Excel is required. MATLAB and other analytical software applications are desired.
- Strong laboratory skills working in a clean room environment.
