What are the responsibilities and job description for the Family Management Tax and Accounting Professional position at TalentConnect?
Our client, a Family Management Company in NYC is seeking a senior level Tax and Accounting Professional to join their team.
The ideal candidate will have 10 plus years of experience and assume all tax and accounting responsibilities, for a portfolio of assets which includes public and private investments across multiple vehicles, including trusts. They will work directly with the President, CFO, Assistant Treasurer and investment accounting team to meet the family member needs for financial reporting, cash management, tax compliance and other services.
Responsibilities:
Cash Flow and Taxes
- Coordination with outside CPA firms on all matters relating to 1040 and 1041 taxpayers, including taxable income projections, paying quarterly estimates, coordination of e-file authorizations and certified filings, including Gift Tax Returns and FBARs.
- Annual cash planning exercise in conjunction with investment team. Prepare cashflows and projections for family members and trusts to ensure liquidity needs are met.
- Prepare quarterly cash flow report for family members including consolidations across reporting platforms, such as quicken and custody accounts as needed.
- Prepare quarterly reconciliations related to retirement and deferred compensation plans
- Support CPA firms and trustees in tax planning and analysis
- Follow up on tax notices for timely resolution
Accounting & Analysis:
- Oversight of corporate GLs; quarterly review and consolidation for Board of Director’s reporting package.
- Record and reconcile (monthly) corporate portfolio activity in GL as well as payroll and benefits activity.
- Coordination and support with outside auditors on the annual audit of corporate books, for one personal holding company and two subsidiaries.
- Recordkeeping and administration of individual client assets across multiple platforms- handling of Deferred Comp plan administration.
- Quarterly payroll and benefit allocations to related party entities
- Ad-hoc reporting for management including reconciliation and analysis as needed
Operations & Administration
- Work with advisor brokerage platform to trade securities, arrange IRA contributions and distributions, maintain client accounts and various compliance matters
- Backup treasury and payables functions on banking platform (funds transfer)
- HR accounting and administration support and backup for office payrolls and benefits
- Billing for company plane usage
- Tax basis recordkeeping for real property
Qualifications
- CPA preferred or a Masters in tax or accounting
- Strong technology skills (excel, power point, BNA), Addepar, Quicken, Sage Intacct, Schwab Advisor,
- Must be a team player
- Must be able to multitask and meet deadlines
- Detail oriented and organized
- Excellent client and communication skills
- Basic knowledge of financial and estate planning concepts
The compensation for this position ranges from $150,000.00 - $225,000.00 plus bonus. Actual compensation will be dependent upon the specific role, office location as well as the individual’s qualifications, experience, skills and certifications.
