Key Responsibilities
- Prescription Management: Review, interpret, and dispense prescription medications as per healthcare provider instructions while ensuring accuracy, safety, and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Medication Counseling: Provide clear and concise medication counseling to patients, including dosage instructions, side effects, storage requirements, and potential drug interactions.
- Customer Service: Assist customers in selecting over-the-counter medications and health products, and provide advice on health concerns and general wellness.
- Pharmaceutical Services: Offer immunization services, health screenings, and wellness consultations as applicable.
- Inventory Control: Manage medication stock levels, including ordering, receiving, and organizing pharmaceuticals, ensuring products are properly stored and labeled.
- Collaboration with Healthcare Providers: Work with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure effective medication therapy management for patients.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all activities comply with relevant laws, including controlled substances regulations, pharmacy practice standards, and the privacy and confidentiality of patient information.
- Continuing Education: Stay up-to-date with the latest pharmaceutical developments, new medications, and emerging industry trends. Participate in professional development and training programs.
- Supervision and Mentorship: Provide guidance and support to pharmacy technicians and staff, assisting with training and development as needed.
- Education: Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an accredited pharmacy school.
- Licensure: Current, active license to practice pharmacy in [insert state/country].
