The Director of Software Development will lead and transform the business' numerous eCommerce platform. This position calls for a seasoned leader with a strong technical foundation who can effectively engage and influence executive teams, while demonstrating proven experience in team management. The role involves developing a unified vision and strategic direction to integrate eight distinct businesses and multiple web stores into a cohesive architecture. Additionally, it will oversee major transformation initiatives, including eliminating technical debt and replacing monolithic systems with a modern technology stack. The ideal candidate thrives under pressure, takes initiative, and delivers impactful results independently.

Responsibilities:

• Partner with executive leadership and business leaders to align technical initiatives with the company’s three-year strategic plan.
• Drive digital transformation efforts by transitioning from monolithic platforms to advanced warehouse management systems.
• Develop and implement a strategic roadmap for adopting new technology stacks, including migrating from Perl to Oracle NetSuite and Adobe Commerce.
• Establish a Center of Excellence (COE)
• Oversee the sustainability, maintenance, and continuous improvement of systems that support eCommerce platforms and warehouse operations.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure smooth execution and successful outcomes.
• Assess, refine, and implement best practices for software development, processes, testing methodologies, and deployment strategies.
• Monitor development team performance through a metrics-driven tracking system to drive continuous improvement.
• Collaborate closely with the Project Manager to communicate project status, risks, and opportunities to stakeholders.
• Coordinate with third-party vendors and partners to ensure seamless project execution and delivery.

Must-Have Skills:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; a master's degree is a plus.
• 10 years of experience in a senior software development role, with a proven ability to manage and lead development teams.
• Extensive experience with eCommerce platforms such as Oracle NetSuite and Adobe Commerce, or similar ERP and eCommerce technologies.
• Proficiency in custom code development (specific programming languages not required, but experience with Perl or Adobe is beneficial).
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Exceptional problem-solving capabilities and strategic mindset.
• Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
