What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounting Manager position at TalentoHC?
TalentoHC is partnered with an enterprise organization seeking an Accounting Manager on an interim basis for 3 months to support numerous projects within the team.
The Manager, Accounting is responsible for the oversight and management of all General accounting related transactions within the Accounting department. Given the volume of accounts, the incumbent will work closely with numerous levels of management throughout various areas of the business to assist in the preparation and review of financial results.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for managing the month-end close process including communicating deadlines to finance and accounting, reviewing journal entries and balance sheet account reconciliations, and providing variance analysis.
- Ensure all aspects of the monthly close process are completed on a timely basis.
- Review and validate consolidated financial statements.
- Review financial reporting packages and monthly results to analyze variances and trends and provide explanations to management for the related movements.
- Evaluate and review key policies, procedures, internal controls and assist in all related testing for the Internal Control Assessment under Sarbanes-Oxley as it relates to Corporate Accounting.
- Ensure controls are complete and accurate; risks and key controls are properly identified.
- Responsible for all internal and external audit requirements / deliverables
- Understand the operational systems and assist in the continual development and improvement of the recording of entries within the systems. This includes periodic reviews of current practices to identify potential deficiencies.
- Attend monthly close meetings and be prepared to answer questions about financial statements, provide commentary, variance explanations and ad hoc reports and analysis as needed.

EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience.
- Combined experience in public accounting and the private sector a plus.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
- Strong understanding and application of US GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley
- Experience with PeopleSoft software or large company ERP systems a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required.
- Strong communication (verbal and written) and leadership skills.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
- Attention to detail is essential.
- Ability to multi-task and work extra hours during month end close and as needed.
