Key Responsibilities
Tax Compliance and Reporting
Oversee compliance with ASC 740:
- Prepare and review global tax provisions, journal entries, and provision workpapers.
- Analyze tax accounting pronouncements and ensure compliance.
Manage global tax compliance:
- Supervise consultants preparing U.S. federal, state, and sales/use tax filings.
- Oversee preparation of non-U.S. tax filings.
- Maintain the global tax calendar and adherence to protocols.
Lead tax-related disclosures:
- Prepare tax footnotes for annual financial statements.
- Review and tie-out income tax footnotes in statutory accounts.
Internal Controls and Forecasting
Develop and maintain robust internal controls:
- Reconcile tax accounts globally on a quarterly basis.
- Report reconciliations to CFO and accounting teams.
Handle tax forecasting:
- Conduct variance analysis for U.S. income taxes.
- Present global variance analysis to stakeholders monthly.
Strategic Collaboration
Partner with legal teams on tax strategy:
- Consider tax implications for business initiatives or changes in tax law.
- Ensure accurate reporting of new business structures and tax positions.
- Act as a liaison with external auditors and advisors for tax accounting and compliance matters.
- Manage audits and litigation related to U.S. federal or state taxes, and provide documentation for global audits as required.
Leadership and Oversight
Supervise U.S. tax operations team:
- Ensure accurate preparation of federal/state income tax filings and adjustments.
- Oversee return-to-provision adjustments for international subsidiaries.
- Direct external tax counsel and consultants on special projects, such as tax return preparation or litigation support.
Qualifications
Experience:
- 10 years of experience in public accounting or a corporate tax department.
- Extensive experience in global/multinational tax operations.
Education:
- Advanced tax degree or law qualification (e.g., LLB).
Certifications:
- CPA ideal
Knowledge and Skills
Technical Skills
- Strong foundation in ASC 740 and tax accounting for global operations.
- Proficiency in tax systems such as NetSuite and standard PC software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.).
- Familiarity with tax research tools and databases.
