TalentSource360 is assisting a new client with several critical accounting hires throughout their finance organization. This stable firm is expanding their team and in search of dedicated accounting professionals in search of the proper balance or work and play.
Currently, we are seeking a Staff and/or Senior Accountant to join their corporate team in the DC area. The ideal candidate will have a background in corporate or public accounting, proven experience working well with the latest financial systems, and a desire to be a part of a cohesive and collaborative corporate accounting function long term.
In this role, you will gain experience preparing monthly and quarterly financial statements, handling accruals, conducting variance analysis, supporting for tax and audit preparations, and much more.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review monthly and quarterly financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP and internal policies.
- Play a key role in the month-end and quarter-end closing process, ensuring all journal entries are posted, reconciliations are completed, and financial statements are ready for review.
- Coordinate with other departments to gather necessary data for the close process.
- Assist in the consolidation of financial data across multiple business units.
- Manage the accurate recording of revenue and expense accruals each period.
- Ensure that all accruals are timely and reflect the actual performance of the company.
- Conduct monthly variance analysis for both revenue and expenses, comparing actual results to budget and prior periods.
- Identify significant variances, provide explanations, and collaborate with management to develop corrective actions as necessary.
- Utilize ERP systems such as NetSuite, Great Plains, and Sage Intacct to record financial transactions, prepare reports, and ensure the integrity of financial data.
- Troubleshoot and improve ERP workflows to enhance efficiency and accuracy of financial reporting processes.
- Leverage advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, complex formulas, data analysis) to manipulate large datasets and create reports for senior management.
- Automate financial reports and support budgeting and forecasting processes using Excel.
- Support the tax department as needed to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations.
- Ensure that all documentation is accurate and provided in a timely manner for audit purposes.
- Continuously seek opportunities to improve accounting processes, increase efficiency, and strengthen internal controls.
- Ensure all accounting activities comply with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- CPA preferred
- 3-5 years of corporate accounting experience in public or corporate accounting
- Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite, Great Plains, and Sage Intacct.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices (GAAP).
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, complex formulas, and financial modeling.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to thrive in a challenging and fast-paced environment
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Familiarity with tax filings and audit documentation requirements.
Salary : $85,000 - $105,000
