This is a 3 month contract position with potential to extend. The ideal individual has had experience with tariffs in the past and has a strong understanding of the Steel industry and market. The Role:
- Responsible for day-to-day purchasing activities including purchase requisitions, purchase orders, and expediting
- Generate purchase orders to replenish approved products ensuring maximum cost effectiveness
- Manage vendor relationships including costing, quality, delivery, and other related metrics to ensure maximum utilization
- Coordinate with the facilities to ensure product quality and delivery
- Negotiate, review and analyze purchase orders and contracts
- Work directly with Supply Chain Leadership on new and innovative ways to navigate tariffs
- Post secondary training from an accredited institution or experience in direct buying and sourcing; with preference given to those who have purchased steel in the past
- Excellent interpersonal, attention to detail and problem solving skills, with ability to work independently
- Superior organizational skills and planning skills
- Prior experience and knowledge of Tariffs and their impact on Steel purchasing
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Proven experiences with contract negotiations with Steel Mills
- Knowledge and experiences with re-sale and direct buy agreements.
- Experience on resourcing activities and approvals required
- Ability to efficiently multi-task and schedule priorities
- Punctual and hard working
- Ability to work remotely 9 AM – 5:00 PM Mon-Fri
