Job Description:
The Construction Laborer is responsible for performing physical labor tasks at construction sites while adhering to company and industry safety regulations and operational procedures. This position is subject to the Davis-Bacon Wage Act.
Responsibilities:
- Follow directions from the Superintendent for daily tasks.
- Assist with loading and unloading equipment and supplies for daily assignments, setting up worksite traffic and safety controls, and properly securing the work area.
- Perform tasks including drywall installation, demolition, painting, tiling, carpentry, and general labor.
- Clean and maintain the worksite at the end of each workday.
- Properly clean and maintain all assigned company equipment.
- Perform physical labor throughout the entire assigned work shift.
- Report safety concerns and incidents to the on-site Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) in accordance with proper procedures.
Skills:
- When required, and if properly licensed and authorized, operate construction equipment on the job site to complete daily tasks.
- Knowledge of the proper use of equipment, materials, and supplies used in heavy and highway construction.
- Basic knowledge of first aid and relevant safety precautions.
- Ability to work independently and complete daily tasks according to the work schedule.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Consistent and dependable attendance, with the ability to meet the scheduled work hours.
- Regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in various outdoor conditions, including inclement weather, heat, humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
- Requires good manual dexterity and multi-limb coordination.
Job Type: Short-Term, based on project needs.
Schedule:
- 8-hour shifts (with the possibility of 10-hour shifts).
- Monday to Friday (with potential for weekend work).
- Weekly schedule may vary; some weeks may not offer a full 40 hours of work.
Education & Certifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- OSHA 10 certification in Construction (Required).
- First Aid/CPR certification (Preferred).
Experience:
- At least 1 year of construction experience (Required).
- Experience with federal construction projects (Preferred).
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to walk and stand for extended periods and perform strenuous physical labor in adverse field conditions.
- Must be able to lift, push, pull, or carry objects weighing up to 80 lbs (), and use abdominal and lower back muscles for support over time without fatigue. Ability to effectively jump, sprint, or throw objects as needed.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions, including but not limited to heat, cold, rain, dust, and wind.
