Overview:
A leading renewable energy firm is seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to lead commercial strategy and execution across wind and solar development projects. This individual will play a critical role in project evaluation, stakeholder coordination, and market positioning to ensure successful development and commercialization of renewable assets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Management: Lead commercial aspects of renewable project development, ensuring adherence to timelines and budget while driving progress across cross-functional teams.
- Market Evaluation: Analyze market dynamics and project feasibility to optimize strategy, project sizing, and alignment with organizational objectives.
- Commercial Strategy: Develop and execute go-to-market strategies for new and repowered assets.
- Origination & Negotiation: Structure and negotiate power purchase agreements (PPAs) with utilities and commercial & industrial (C&I) customers for a portfolio of renewable assets.
- Risk Mitigation: Design and implement strategies to manage commercial risks including price, basis, and volumetric exposure across PPA structures and hedge solutions.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all development activities meet relevant technical and regulatory standards.
- Due Diligence: Oversee and coordinate internal due diligence, including financial modeling and project structuring.
- Interconnection & Permitting: Supervise interconnection request submissions and work with permitting teams to evaluate site feasibility and regulatory alignment.
- Financial Analysis: Assess project-level economics, interconnection costs, and key financial levers impacting development decisions.
- Community Engagement: Partner with local stakeholders to build support and engagement throughout the development lifecycle.
- Strategic Planning: Create and refine long-term development strategies consistent with internal goals and external regulatory environments.
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Drive collaboration across functions including engineering, finance, legal, and external partners to achieve project milestones.
- Contract Development: Structure agreements with subcontractors, consultants, and vendors in support of project execution.
- Risk Management: Identify development and transaction risks, proposing proactive solutions to minimize exposure.
- Reporting: Deliver timely updates to senior leadership on project progress, financial performance, and key metrics.
- Transaction Management: Manage the end-to-end commercial transaction process, ensuring efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and competitive positioning.
Qualifications:
- 5–12 years of experience in development and commercialization within the renewable energy sector.
- Proven expertise in permitting, interconnection, design, and cross-functional project leadership across development milestones.
- Strong background in PPA origination and execution, with additional experience in market operations, trading, or M&A viewed as a plus.
- Bachelor's degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- Must be based in or willing to relocate to New York City.
Salary : $175,000 - $215,000
