Position Summary:
The Senior Vice President of O&M Engineering is a pivotal executive leadership role responsible for overseeing the operation, maintenance, and performance optimization of the company’s renewable energy assets. The SVP will develop and execute strategies to maximize uptime, efficiency, and profitability across a diverse portfolio, including solar, wind, and energy storage projects. This individual will work closely with executive leadership to drive operational excellence, implement cutting-edge technologies, and ensure compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Strategic Oversight:
- Define and execute the long-term strategy for O&M engineering to ensure scalability and sustainability.
- Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing team of engineers, technicians, and operational leaders across multiple regions.
- Develop a proactive, data-driven culture focused on innovation, reliability, and continuous improvement.
- Represent O&M at the executive level, providing regular updates and recommendations to the board and leadership team.
Operational Excellence:
- Oversee the performance of a diverse portfolio of renewable assets, ensuring adherence to operational KPIs, including availability, efficiency, and financial returns.
- Establish and enforce best practices for preventive and corrective maintenance, system diagnostics, and life-cycle management.
- Drive performance improvement initiatives, including benchmarking, predictive analytics, and integration of advanced monitoring tools.
Engineering & Technical Leadership:
- Provide technical oversight for complex troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and the resolution of systemic issues.
- Lead the adoption of emerging technologies to enhance O&M capabilities, such as AI, IoT, and advanced SCADA systems.
- Ensure compliance with NERC, FERC, and other regulatory standards while maintaining the highest safety and environmental standards.
- Evaluate and approve major design modifications, retrofits, and capital expenditure projects.
Financial & Risk Management:
- Develop and manage the O&M budget, balancing cost-effectiveness with high operational standards.
- Monitor and mitigate risks, including cybersecurity threats to OT systems and supply chain disruptions.
- Provide operational and technical due diligence for acquisitions, mergers, and new developments.
- Identify and manage warranty claims, contractual obligations, and vendor relationships.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or a related field); MBA or Master’s in Engineering is highly desirable.
Experience:
- 15 years of experience in operations and maintenance roles within the renewable energy or power generation sector.
- At least 8 years in executive or senior leadership positions.
- Proven track record in managing large-scale renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, and storage.
