Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and safety-conscious Fiber Optic Construction Foreman to lead a crew in the installation and maintenance of fiber optic infrastructure. This role emphasizes road safety and crew management, ensuring projects are completed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with traffic and workplace regulations. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a thorough understanding of construction safety protocols, and experience in fiber optic or utility construction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Crew Management:
  • Supervise and direct daily activities of the fiber optic construction crew, ensuring adherence to project timelines and quality standards.
  • Delegate tasks effectively, monitor progress, and provide guidance and training as needed.
  • Maintain clear and open communication with the crew, project managers, and clients.
  • Road Safety and Traffic Control:
  • Plan and implement traffic control measures, including signage, barriers, and flagging, to ensure the safety of workers and the public.
  • Conduct regular safety briefings and enforce compliance with road safety regulations.
  • Coordinate with local authorities and utility companies to minimize disruptions and secure necessary permits.
  • Construction Oversight:
  • Oversee the installation of underground and aerial fiber optic cables, ensuring proper techniques and adherence to design specifications.
  • Perform site inspections to verify quality, safety, and compliance with project requirements.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve on-site challenges, such as equipment issues or unexpected obstacles.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate records of daily activities, including safety inspections, material usage, and project progress.
  • Submit regular reports to project managers, highlighting completed milestones, potential delays, and safety concerns.
  • Equipment and Material Management:
  • Ensure all tools, equipment, and vehicles are in good working condition and used safely.
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate the timely delivery of materials to job sites.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Proven experience as a foreman or supervisor in fiber optic, utility, or construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of road safety practices, traffic control measures, and relevant regulations.
  • Certification in traffic control (e.g., Flagger Certification) and OSHA safety training is a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, and technical specifications.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications and reporting tools.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required. CDL is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Comfortable with prolonged standing, walking, and lifting materials (up to 50 lbs).

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
