Position Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and reliable Laborer to join our fiber optic construction crew. The successful candidate will assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of fiber optic networks. This role involves physically demanding tasks, working outdoors in various weather conditions, and collaborating with a team to ensure the successful completion of projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the installation and maintenance of underground and aerial fiber optic cables.
- Operate basic construction tools and equipment, such as shovels, drills, and trenchers, under supervision.
- Perform tasks such as trenching, backfilling, and installing conduit.
- Help prepare work sites by marking utilities, setting up safety barriers, and ensuring a clean and organized workspace.
- Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment from vehicles.
- Follow safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe work environment.
- Assist in pulling and splicing fiber optic cables as directed by the crew leader.
- Perform basic equipment maintenance and inspections to ensure functionality.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors about project progress and challenges.
- Handle other duties as assigned to support the project and crew.
Qualifications and Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous construction or utility work experience is a plus but not required.
- Physical stamina and strength to perform manual labor for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy materials and tools (up to 50 lbs).
- Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Basic understanding of construction safety practices.
- Reliable transportation to job sites.
- Strong work ethic, teamwork skills, and attention to detail.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record (preferred).
Working Conditions:
- Full-time, physically demanding role requiring work in outdoor environments.
- May involve travel to various project sites and occasional overnight stays.
