Candidates will have a primary work area, but will day-travel frequently within the 6-county service area of Calhoun, Clay, Cleburne, Coosa, Randolph, and Talladega.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, develop, and implement professional development opportunities for staff based on individual, site, and program level data.
- Ensure that needed resources, materials and technical assistance are available to assist staff in the provision of high quality services.
- Support and supervise coaching staff in providing ongoing observations and feedback to classroom staff utilizing the Practice-Based Coaching Model
- Analyze and aggregate multiple sources of data and completes reports (i.e. ITERS, ECERS, Alabama STARS Quality Rating and Head Start reviews, Teaching Strategies Gold) to identify professional development needs and ensure progress toward the program’s school readiness goals.
- Participate in site visits, classrooms observations, and work groups to assess program needs and planning strategies for system/process improvement and/or development of early childhood education, disabilities, and mental health.
- Provide guidance and support to staff in the implementation of the Creative Curriculum, individualization plans, and Teaching Strategies Gold ongoing child assessment.
- Assist with the coordination of the annual program self-assessment and the follow-up reporting Coordinate with the site directors, education managers, and family services manager in developing individual professional development plans.
- Assist with the development and maintaining written policies and procedures that comply with Head Start Performance Standards.
- Support and assist with site events as requested.
- Works with the other managers to ensure program compliance with codes of all state and local licensing agencies and grant requirements.
- Work in collaboration with clerical and data tracking staff to ensure that professional development services are tracked and accounted for in Child Plus, KRONOS and on files.
- Ensure confidentiality of employee, parent, and child information that is received and managed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree in early childhood education required.
- Master's degree in early childhood education preferred.
- Minimum of four years of experience in an early childhood setting serving infants and toddlers and preschool children. Must have experience as a teacher within a Head Start environment (preferably in Head Start and/or Early Head Start).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to develop collaborative partnerships and work on a team.
- Demonstrated track record working and supporting the needs of low-income families and young children.
- Coaching or Practice Based Coaching training.

- Must have knowledge and experience in areas that include theories and principles of child development, adult learning, teaching strategies, and the components of a high quality early learning environment.
- Have an understanding and knowledge of the Head Start Program Performance Standards and regulations, teaching strategies, and components of a high quality early learning environment.
- Knowledge of community-based social service organizations and agencies
- Must be comfortable with and able to interact effectively with center staff, parents, children, and the public in a diverse, ethnic, racial, religious and economic backgrounds of the communities.
- Must be willing to work outside of traditional work hours (evenings/weekends), when necessary to properly support our constituencies.
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds and sit on the floor and interact with children.
Positions requiring the use of personal owned vehicle to perform job tasks; successful applicants must:
- Be 21 years of age
- Have a current valid driver’s license
- Provide proof of current automobile liability insurance with a minimum bodily injury limit of $100,000 per person $300,000 per occurrence on personal owned vehicle and $50,000 for property damage.
- Provide a current Motor Vehicle Report in order to be insurable by the program’s non-owned insurance plan.
