POSITION GUIDE
POSITION: Agriscience Teacher
QUALIFICATION:
Valid Alabama Teacher’s Certificate in assigned area
REPORTS TO:
Principal
Coordinator of Secondary Programs
JOB GOAL:
To guide students toward reaching their potential for intellectual,
emotional, psychological, and physical growth and maturation through
provision of appropriate learning experiences.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors of Science Degree in Agriscience education or B.S. in field
with 5 required Career Technical classes
Alabama Drivers License
Computer Literate
Physically able to lift 60 pounds
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Expected workday 7 ½ hours

Follow Alabama Course of Study for Agriscience Education along with system and State curriculum guides and develop appropriate lesson plans and course syllabi.
Set-up and maintain all student records, inventory, and data collection files for three years.
Develop projects to meet goals and objectives of classes.
Monitor student use of all technological equipment and software, industrial equipment, lab operations.
Assist with character development program at local school.
Assist local system and state required training sessions.
Keep accurate and current student records with appropriate evaluation documents.
Know and follow Section 504, IDEA amendments, No Child Left Behind legislation, and ADA requirements.
Assist with remediation of core course and testing as assigned.
Maintain student organization.
Maintain greenhouse/horticulture and aquaculture equipment and programs.
Ensure the classroom and instructional environment is attractive, clean, safe, and generally conductive to learning.
Hold the required Number of Career Technical Advisory Committee meetings with 5 members of the field to link the school program with the community.
Maintain Business and Industry Certification.
Continue professional growth by holding membership in professional organizations.
Abide by the standards established by the Talladega County Board of Education for professional, ethical, and personal conduct of teachers.
Uphold and enforce the Talladega County Board of Education policy.
19. Promote good public relations for the Talladega County School System.
20. Any other duties as assigned by Principal.
EVALUATION:
Performance will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the
Board’s policy.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Nine-month contract. Salary according to proper
placement on current salary schedule.
