JOB TITLE: School Secretary
REPORTS TO: School Principal
TERM: Twelve-month year, salary and work year to be established by the Board.
QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum High School diploma or GED
College degree or coursework preferred

JOB GOAL: To assure the smooth and efficient operation of the school office so that the maximum positive impact on the education of students can be realized.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs the usual office routines; and practices associated with a busy, yet productive and smoothly run office.
- Maintains such student records as shall be required by Principal.
Performs all receptionist duties, i.e., delivers all messages and follows through with all requests; keeps an up-to-date school calendar. Receives and routes all incoming calls.
- Supervises clerical assistant and student workers.
- Receipts and prepares deposit slips for all moneys received on a daily basis.
- Performs all duties as secretary/bookkeeper to the Principal.
- Maintains school records i.e., financial (budgets, ledger, receipts, checks, etc.) monthly bank reconciliation, attendance, payroll report, (daily, monthly, annually), daily attendance log and records for substitutes, purchase orders and school files.
- Assists in preparation of teacher/student handbook as needed.
- Welcomes visitors to school and notifies appropriate personnel.
- Files correspondence or other records in a prescribed manner.
- Keeps office machines in operating condition and maintains supplies.
- Maintains good rapport with staff, students and patrons while maintaining a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
- In the absence of the Principal, refers all discipline problems and/or emergencies to the assistant principal or designee.
- Assists with Child Nutrition Program as needed.
- Assists with Fixed Assets Inventory.
- Orders office and janitorial supplies.
- Notifies appropriate personnel in medical emergencies; maintains first-aid supplies.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Principal or Assistant Principal.
EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy of support staff evaluation.
TERMS OF
EMPLOYMENT: Twelve months. Salary according to approved Salary Schedule.
