- Follow up on unpaid claims and resolve any discrepancies with insurance providers.
- Maintain organized medical records and documentation in compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Communicate effectively with patients regarding their bills, payment options, and any outstanding balances.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify any issues related to coding or billing.
- Stay updated on changes in medical billing regulations, coding guidelines, and payer policies.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in medical billing and coding, preferably in a medical office setting.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-9, ICD-10, DRG coding, and medical collection processes.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and billing software.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication skills to interact with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance representatives.
- Certification in medical billing or coding is a plus but not required.
