What are the responsibilities and job description for the Inspector/Quality Control position at Tallahassee Housing Authority?
Under the general supervision of the Director of Operations the Inspector/Quality Control performs various duties relative to Section 8 annual, interim and Housing Quality Standard (HQS) inspections, continued eligibility and landlord tenant relations. Responsibilities include maintaining an approximate caseload of 350 Section 8 participants ensuring maximum program utilization.
Major Duties and Responsibilities

1. Performs initial unit inspections ensuring compliance with Housing Quality Standards (HQS).
2. Performs Interim unit inspections ensuring compliance with Housing Quality Standards (HQS)
3. Performs move-in unit inspections ensuring compliance with HQS.
4. Assimilates and enters data into the computer.
5. Makes home-visits to conduct annual reexaminations; conducts annual HQS inspections in coordination with the Administrative Plan.
6. Provides referrals for residents in need of supportive services.
7. Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge and Abilities
1. Knowledge of the general operations and procedures of a Public Housing Agency (PHA).
2. Knowledge of the purposes, policies and regulations of the Section 8 existing programs as established by HUD.
3. Knowledge of the local, state, and federal laws governing the Section 8 housing program including Housing Quality Standards, health and fire regulations, landlord/tenant regulations, and evictions.
4. Knowledge of the regulations affecting the Section 8 program and ability to understand the terms of the Authority’s Administrative Plan.
5. Demonstrated knowledge of business English, spelling, punctuation and arithmetic.
6. Knowledge of modern office equipment including copiers, personal computers, mainframe terminals, calculators, facsimile machines, etc.
7. Ability to understand, act on, and interpret policies, regulations, and procedures
8. Ability to prepare and present ideas in a clear and concise manner, both orally and in writing.
9. Ability to perform computations with speed and accuracy.
10. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, vendors, consultants, contractors, residents, HUD, and local, state and federal officials; ability to communicate with people from a broad range of socio-economic backgrounds.
11. Ability to work productively in less than ideal conditions, e.g. noise, high traffic areas, etc.
Physical Requirements
1. Level of manual dexterity sufficient to allow for operation of a typewriter, terminal keyboard, telephone, facsimile machine, calculator, etc.; ability to transport oneself to various assisted housing locations and offices as may be required in fulfilling the job duties.
2. Ability to move, handle, or lift small objects around desk area, e.g. files, computer printouts, reports, calculator, pencils, legal pads, etc.
3. Ability to physically inspect all types of rental units.
4. Ability to bend, stoop, kneel and crawl.
Minimum Education, Training, and/or Experience
1. Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in Management, Public Administration, or related field, with 1-2 years of experience in subsidized housing and/or property management.
2. Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which, in the sole determination of the Housing Authority, constitutes the required knowledge and abilities.
Special Requirements
1. Must possess a valid Florida driver’s license and reliable transportation.
2. Must be bondable.
3. Criminal background checks will be performed on all applicants.

Pay: $47,528.00 - $56,750.92 per hour
