What are the responsibilities and job description for the STEM Teacher / Coach position at Tallahassee School of Math & Science?
FLDOE Certification in Science (K-6, 5-9, 6-12) or STEM-related subject required
Responsibilities:
Support and enhance STEM instruction across grade levels:
- Collaborate with teachers to design and implement engaging, standards-aligned STEM lessons
- Coach and model effective STEM teaching strategies using hands-on, project-based approaches
- Assist with curriculum development that integrates science, technology, engineering, and math concepts
- Support the use of technology and innovative tools to improve STEM instruction
Provide professional development and instructional support:
- Plan and facilitate training and workshops for teachers focused on STEM content, pedagogy, and integration
- Conduct classroom observations and provide feedback to improve instructional practices
- Mentor teachers in data-driven instruction and differentiation techniques for all learners
Promote a schoolwide culture of inquiry and innovation:
- Foster interdisciplinary collaboration and support STEM-related initiatives and programs
- Assist in developing enrichment activities, STEM fairs, and competitions
- Lead the coordination and implementation of the school’s Science Olympiad team and Science Fair
- Serve as a resource for current STEM trends, strategies, and best practices
Monitor student progress and program effectiveness:
- Support the use of formative and summative assessment data to guide instruction
- Help teachers analyze student data and implement targeted interventions
- Contribute to continuous improvement of the STEM program
Build strong relationships and community connections:
- Communicate effectively with staff, students, and families
- Collaborate with school leadership and district personnel
- Help connect the school with external STEM resources and partnerships
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field or Education with a strong STEM background
- Valid Florida Educator Certificate in Science or related area
- Experience teaching STEM subjects or coaching in a school setting
- Strong understanding of instructional practices, curriculum design, and data analysis
- Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills
- Passion for STEM education and empowering teachers and students
