Assistant Principal Job Description
Qualifications: Class A, Educational Administrator Certificate
Experience: Minimum three years teaching experience and demonstrated leadership ability in an educational environment
Salary: Per the Board Approved High School AP Salary Matrix
Organizational Relationship, Objectives, and Functions:
The Assistant Principal, reports to the principal with broad responsibilities to serve as the principal in the absence of the principal and having on-going special responsibilities to assist the principal in student discipline/services, school plant maintenance, and co-curricular activities.
Duties:
Provide administrative support to faculty and staff in implementing the school’s student discipline program to include monitoring the student attendance control system

Maintains an on-going dialogue with faculty, students and community relative to school activities, curriculum and student services/discipline issues
Coordinates visitations of college students in the classrooms of the high school
Assists the principal in supervising the maintenance of the school plant and equipment
Assists the principal with the performance assessment of instructional personnel in the school and makes recommendations for performance improvement to staff and the principal
Serves as a curriculum resource to individual teachers
Reviews student assessment data and assists teachers in interpreting data toward the improvement of instruction

Assists with parent-teacher conferences and general communications with parents regarding curriculum and instruction
Assists with assessing instructional materials needs and makes recommendations to the principal regarding identified needs
Participates in the selection process for filling vacant teacher positions as needed by the principal
Performs other such duties as required and/or assigned by the principal
