Talley Eye Institute is a busy Ophthalmology practice seeking enthusiastic individuals to join our surgery scheduling team. Ophthalmic surgical schedulers are responsible for establishing and coordinating schedules and other activities within a clinic, as well as coordinating between clinic(s), surgeon(s), and surgery center(s) to inform each of changes and requirements as they occur. In addition to creating surgery schedules, ophthalmic surgery schedulers are also required to change and optimize schedules based on staff requests or requirements, which requires strong verbal and written communication skills.

Essential duties and responsibilities include:
- Schedule patient appointments as needed
- Counsel patient for all surgeries (cataract/retinal/glaucoma/cornea/lids, etc.)
- Stay current with the latest technologies & medications and be able to answer general patient questions (premium IOL’s, etc..)
- Verification of medical benefits for surgery
- Discuss non-covered benefits with patients
- Complete consent and other necessary forms for surgery
- Forward packet of surgical paperwork to appropriate surgical facility/hospital
- Inform patient of any pre-admission testing (labs, EKG, etc.) as needed. Also of what is expected day of surgery, answer any pre-surgical questions, and inform of follow up care.
- Schedule patient at correct facility (fax date/doctor/which eye/general information) with the appropriate requested equipment
Education and experience:
- High school diploma
- Must demonstrate data entry skills, knowledge of standard office equipment
- Knowledge of medical insurance/benefits and medical terminology preferred
- Familiar with and understand chart documentation and layout
- Familiar with the anatomy of the eye is a plus
- Ability to handle multiple activities effectively, exhibit good communication and interpersonal skills. Patient service oriented.
- Flexibility and dependability to meet demands of workplace and changes in the workplace.
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to travel same day to outlying cities is required

Salary commensurate with experience
Salary : $20 - $22
