Position Overview:
Talley is searching for a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to provide leadership, counsel, and direction to one of our 501c6 client partners. This includes fostering positive relationships with client volunteer leadership, coordinating internal and external resources, managing client and team scope, ensuring fiscal responsibility, supervising day-to-day administrative functions, and providing mentorship to staff, while adhering to company policies and client processes. This organization seeks an individual with experience leading women centric organizations; professional and workforce development initiatives; chapter management; and awareness of legislative and regulatory initiatives. Experience leading organizations with an international footprint preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assures that the Board, Executive Committee, appropriate committee chairs, and key staff personnel are kept fully informed on the conditions and operations of the association, and on all important factors influencing the organization.
- Participates in all meetings of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee, in person and virtually/teleconference, including preparing and distributing agendas and related meeting materials.
- Assists the Board in the development and execution of the strategic plan.
- Plans, formulates, and recommends for the approval of the Board, policies and programs which will further the objectives of the association.
- Executes all decisions of the Board.
- Leads a staff team of approximately 4 people, which include two membership personnel, an Executive Administrator, a Meetings Manager, and outsourced resources, including financial management.
- Develops for the purpose of day-to-day administration specific policies, procedures, and programs to support and implement the policies established by the Board.
- Signs and executes such contracts and commitments as may be authorized by the Board or established policies, while ensuring alignment with internal Talley policies and procedures.
- Promotes interest and active participation in the association’s activities on the part of the membership and committees, and reports on activities to the Board as appropriate.
- In cooperation with the accountant, treasurer, and/or finance committee, develops, recommends, monitors, and operates within an annual budget. Works with the Talley finance department to ensure timely and effective financial reports.
- Recommends, develops, and implements educational programs in conjunction with client(s) committees to advance the professional, technical, and managerial skills of the membership, operating within the budget and program objectives developed and approved by the Board.
- Plans, organizes, and directs membership promotion and retention programs, evaluates results and recommends policies, procedures, and actions to achieve membership goals.
- Performs a fiduciary function for the association, maintaining official minutes of the Board of Directors and other official meetings of the association, provides security and appropriate confidentiality for all files, legal and historic documents, membership, and other databases, while ensuring alignment with internal Talley policies and procedures.
- Is responsible for the planning, promotion, and administration of all official meetings of the association.
- Plans and oversees execution of all communications to the general membership, including such items as newsletters, general mailings, ballots, and surveys.
- In conjunction with volunteer leadership and staff, develops, implements, and fulfills sponsorship and industry relation engagements.
- Provides the necessary liaison and staff support to Committee Chairs and Committees to enable them to effectively perform their function.
- Provides oversight, including alignment of educational events with the organization’s long term strategic vision. Oversees the Meetings team with the development and selection, hotel contracts, travel, exhibit space, and other duties as needed.
- Ensures staff are adhering to company policy and client processes such as, but not limited to, time keeping and expense reporting.
Qualifications:
Education Requirements:
- Active management of CAE certification or applicable industry relevant certification.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
Experience Requirements:
- 12 years of proven experience in association management or similar field.
- Advanced understanding of AMC’s and nonprofit/association management.
- Demonstrates initiative to learn about the industry or profession and the issues of concern to members.
Technical Skills:
- Comfort with databases and/or latest technology in AMS software: Content Management systems, Web-based membership management or CRM.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, project management platforms such as Monday.com, database management, and general web applications.
Soft Skills:
- Advances complex programs/projects while consistently meeting or exceeding deadlines.
- Proactively identifies the need for additional staffing and recommends resources required to provide the services outlined in the client agreement or identified and approved by the Board of Directors.

Physical Demands & Working Environment:
- This is a hybrid position, requiring 2-3 days in office.
- Percentage of travel (inclusive of Talley and client related obligations) – up to 20%
- This role primarily involves desk-based work using a computer and standard office equipment. Employees must be able to sit or stand (based on preference) for extended periods, type and use a mouse, view a computer screen, and participate in virtual meetings. Occasionally, light lifting of items like laptops or small office supplies (up to 15 pounds) may be required. Employees are expected to maintain a comfortable home office setup and adhere to safety guidelines for physical needs, ensuring an efficient and productive work experience.
- If travel is required, additional physical requirements include navigating airports, public transportation, and meeting locations, lifting luggage or equipment (up to 50 pounds), sitting or standing for extended periods, and adapting to various environments such as conference centers or client sites.
