What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Technical Advisor-Power Systems (#3111) position at Tallgrass?
Primary Purpose :
To provide engineering and subject matter expertise in the field of large-scale electrical and mechanical equipment for power plants including turbomachinery, generators and balance of plant equipment. Tasks may include but are not limited to the equipment selection and recommendations, planning of systems, design recommendations, implementation planning and oversight, and support of electrical systems for clean energy and power projects. This could include a mixture of energy related facilities, including small, mid-scale and large scale power plants.
Essential duties and responsibilities :
- Act as the subject matter expert for the deployment of power systems for power generation and contribute expertise to across all projects requiring rotating equipment to move or generate energy.
- Provide guidance, leadership and technical oversight of electrical equipment selections, designs and concepts of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion for project needs and requirements that are set forth by the project managers.
- Lead design and analysis of turbomachinery components such as turbines, compressors and pump systems, evaluate manufacturers for application suitability, cost and reliability.
- Manage the electrical equipment development and oversight of electrical packages including equipment specifications and data sheets, Request for Qualifications (RFQ's), technical bid summaries, and provide purchase recommendations.
- Review electrical equipment vendor drawings, data interface with suppliers, other engineering disciplines, detailers, designers.
- Lead and participate in development of project schedule, scope, budget staffing planning and construction planning.
- Apply expert knowledge of commonly used electrical concepts, equipment, practices, codes and procedures within the electrical engineering services industry.
- Applies knowledge and experience to complex projects, find non-standard design solutions.
- Oversee the development of cost proposals and qualification statements to achieve stated targets and standards for financial performance. Prepare and present project budgets and cost estimates.
- Provide owners engineering support related to purchase specifications, technical bid evaluations, vendor document review, and factory acceptance testing for electrical equipment.
- Effectively prioritize workload between several projects.
- Interact internally and externally with a wide variety of people with tact, courtesy, and professionalism.
- Maintain a high standard of ethical conduct in all work activity and company matters of every kind.
- Speak, both in person and by telephone, using a high level of verbal skills and careful listening.
