What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lifeguard (Seasonal) position at Tallmadge Parks & Recreation?
Lifeguards at the seasonal outdoor pool will monitor activities of members and guests in and out of the water and assist with cleaning and maintenance. Those with water safety instruction certification may be asked to teach classes and will receive a higher rate of pay.
Job Duties
- Monitors swimmers in the pool and assists distressed swimmers
- Performs pool emergency procedures, such as rescues, and basic first aid as needed
- Enforces safety rules and policies
- Enforces dress code
- Assists with cleaning of the facility before, during and after shifts
- Attends routine in-service training as needed
- Responds to questions/requests for information and/or researches questions or requests as needed
- Performs routine cleaning tasks as assigned
Hours & Schedule
- The pool is staffed daily between May 24-August 10
- Lifeguards will be staffed any time the pool is open. Hours vary, but are generally 6:30 am-8 pm Monday through Thursday, 6:30 am-8:30 pm Fridays, 8:30 am-8:30 pm Saturdays and 10 am-8:30 pm Sundays.
- Evenings and weekends required.
- Pool may close and employees will be called off due to inclement weather
Qualifications
- Current lifeguard certification required
- Water Safety Instructor certification preferred
- Cleaning experience preferred
- Customer service experience preferred
- Ability to use basic cleaning equipment
- Ability to lift tables/chairs and other equipment for facility set ups and tear downs
- Must be age 15 or older
