Job Summary:
We are a family owned eyecare and eyewear facility in southeast Tallahassee. We are excited to be growing and in need of a second optician or eyewear consultant. As an optician or eyewear consultant, you will assist patients in selecting eyewear that enhances their vision and suits their lifestyle. You will be responsible for interpreting eyeglass and contact lens prescriptions and advising clients on various types of lenses and frames. Additionally, you'll ensure that the eyewear is properly fitted and adjusted for optimal comfort and vision correction.
Responsibilities:
1. Interpreting Prescriptions: Understand and interpret prescriptions for eyeglasses or contact lenses written by eye care professionals.
2. Assisting Patients: Guide patients in selecting appropriate eyewear based on their prescription, facial features, and personal style preferences.
3. Lens and Frame Selection: Recommend specific lenses (e.g., single vision, bifocal, progressive) and frames (e.g., materials, styles, sizes) to meet patients’ needs.
4. Taking Measurements: Accurately measure patients’ pupillary distance and other relevant facial dimensions to ensure proper fitting of eyewear.
5. Ordering Eyewear: Place orders for lenses, frames, and other optical products from suppliers, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
6. Fitting and Adjustments: Fit eyewear on patients and make necessary adjustments for comfort, proper alignment, and optimal vision correction.
7. Educating Patients: Provide information to patients about proper eyewear care, lens features, and options for lens treatments.
8. Maintaining Records: Keep detailed records of patient prescriptions, orders, and transactions in compliance with regulatory requirements.
9. Customer Service: Address patient concerns or issues related to their eyewear, providing prompt and courteous assistance to ensure satisfaction.
10. Staying Informed: Stay updated on advancements in eyewear technology, lens designs, and industry trends to better serve patients and provide informed recommendations.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification as a licensed optician is preferred but not necessary.
- Previous experience in a similar role preferred, with knowledge of optical principles, lens types, and frame materials.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and suppliers.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in measurements and fittings.
- Proficiency in using optical equipment, such as lensometers and pupilometers.
- Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations governing the dispensing of eyewear.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to providing excellent customer service and ensuring patient satisfaction.
