About the Role
The Quality Control Manager is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the quality of structural steel fabrication at the plant level. This role involves managing a team of Certified Welding Inspectors (CWIs) across multiple shifts, enforcing quality standards, and maintaining compliance with industry regulations. The position requires strong leadership, problem-solving skills, and expertise in welding inspection and quality control. This is an on-site plant position with no travel requirements, and relocation assistance is available.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage the quality control function at the assigned plant.
- Supervise a team of Certified Welding Inspectors (CWIs) across three shifts.
- Implement and maintain the AISC quality program, ensuring compliance and successful audits.
- Collaborate with Production and Project Management teams to ensure quality standards and documentation are maintained.
- Coordinate with DOT Inspectors and customer engineers to schedule inspections and ensure proper documentation.
- Manage the welder certification program and maintain records of welder qualifications per project requirements.
- Review project specifications and conduct prefabrication meetings to align with quality policies.
- Monitor inspection reports, hold points, and track project inspection progress.
- Oversee the tool calibration program and manage internal and outsourced non-destructive testing (NDT) programs.
- Conduct inspections of welds, dimensions, materials, fasteners, and coatings.
- Address and resolve customer quality concerns in a timely manner.
- Contribute to plant leadership planning and operations.
- Maintain and update the Quality Control Manual regularly.
