About the Role
The Quality Control Technician reports directly to the Quality Control Manager and is responsible for ensuring the quality standards of products and processes throughout the plant. Core duties include inspection, grading, and sorting of incoming materials, conducting audits, verifying product conformance to customer specifications, and investigating defective products. This role also involves reading and interpreting customer and government specifications, ISO 9001 standards, technical drawings, and work instructions. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and excellent communication skills are essential.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure a safe and environmentally sound work area by maintaining compliance with all safety protocols, including blood lead policies, and actively improving workplace safety and health standards.
- Perform inspections and testing on cast, extruded, rolled, and machined products to ensure compliance with internal and customer requirements, documenting results and generating reports for non-conforming products.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain Optical Emissions Spectrometers and ensure the proper functioning and calibration of measurement tools on the production floor.
- Investigate and document defective products, generate non-conformance reports, and support resolution of quality issues in collaboration with other departments.
- Develop and maintain a 6S program in the Quality Control Lab, performing daily audits and ensuring organization and efficiency.
- Conduct Rockwell Hardness Testing, prepare products for Level III and Level IV shipments, and generate Certificates of Analysis or Conformance as required.
- Maintain all controlled documents and test records for inspection, grading, and testing of materials in an easily accessible and traceable manner.
- Conduct visual and dimensional inspections of incoming third-party or customer-supplied parts to ensure they meet the required standards for production.
- Communicate quality trends, findings, and recommendations to the Quality Control Supervisor or Manager and support quality system audits as needed.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in the lead or other metal industries.
- Two (2) years of experience programming and operating a portable measuring arm, preferably using PolyWorks (other CMM experience will be considered).
- Strong math and measurement skills with the ability to read and interpret technical drawings, 3D CAD models, and government or industry specifications.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Forklift training and certification.
- Crane operation certification.
- Experience with quality control software and measurement tools, such as calipers and micrometers.
- Familiarity with CAD or CAM software for reading and interpreting technical specifications.
- Prior experience maintaining and improving 6S programs in a laboratory or manufacturing setting.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $68,000.00 per year
