About the Role
The Quality Technician ensures product quality by inspecting materials, conducting audits, and monitoring compliance with internal standards and customer requirements. This position plays a key role in maintaining ISO 9001 standards, performing precision measurements, and supporting continuous improvement efforts within the plants operations.
Responsibilities:
- Inspect and grade incoming raw materials.
- Conduct audits to ensure adherence to quality standards.
- Measure machined, cast, extruded, and rolled products accurately.
- Investigate defective products and document findings.
- Calibrate, operate, and maintain Optical Emissions Spectrometers.
- Maintain inspection logs and generate non-conformance reports.
- Monitor calibration systems and remove defective tools.
- Support the development and daily audit of the 6S program in the QC lab.
- Conduct Rockwell Hardness Testing and generate required certificates.
- Prepare products for shipment, including specialized orders.
- Participate in quality system audits and support continuous improvement.
- Inspect incoming third-party parts to verify suitability for production use.
- Maintain traceable document files and test records.
- Report quality trends to the Quality Control Supervisor or Manager.
- Assist other departments when required and be available on call.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in the lead or metal industry.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience operating a portable measuring arm (preferably with PolyWorks).
- Forklift and crane operation certification.
- Strong math, measurement, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to interpret specifications, drawings, and written procedures.
- Independent and self-motivated with good communication skills.
- Commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
Desired Qualifications:
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality standards.
- Experience supporting manufacturing environments with multiple product lines.
- Ability to adapt quickly to various inspection and testing duties.
- Understanding of EHS and compliance protocols in industrial environments.
