POSITION SUMMARY:
The Risk Management Specialist is responsible for support of risk management functions within the framework of Talos Energy policies and procedures and in compliance of applicable regulations.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design and maintain comprehensive reports detailing identified risks, mitigation strategies, and risk levels to management and stakeholders
- Develop and implement risk mitigation plans to minimize the potential impact of identified risks
- Ensure adherence to relevant regulations and industry standards related to risk management
- Communicate risk assessments and mitigation strategies effectively to different levels of management and relevant stakeholders
- Collect, analyze, and organize data for insurance renewals and stand-alone placements
- Serve as a liaison among stakeholders and counterparties during the negotiation of non-standard insurance-related contract terms and determine and address each department’s need relative to those terms
- Review and analyze insurance policies when an interpretation of contract terms is needed, or when identification of differences in selected terms across contracts is required
- Review insurance requirements and weigh insurance variance requests for a variety of third-party contracts and MSAs to ensure compliance of insurance coverage
- Manage claims and assist in collecting proper loss documents, in a timely manner, to insurance carriers in accordance with the terms of the policy to maximize recovery
- Assess ongoing surety needs and manage surety portfolio including but not limited to, validating renewal invoices, strategizing new surety bond placements
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of 2 years of risk management, or related corporate finance experience, preferably in an oil and gas company
- Bachelor’s degree finance, business administration, accounting, or related field
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
- Ability to demonstrate reliability, strong initiative, and willingness to assume demanding workload in a dynamic environment
- Demonstrated experience interacting with insurance and surety brokers and underwriters
- Strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills
- Team player; strong project-oriented focus with experience collaborating with operating groups
- Proactive thinker who anticipates problems and creates progressive solutions
- Able to organize and prioritize a diverse and heavy workload consisting of many detailed, separate procedures and deadlines
- Able to communicate effectively across multiple levels—both written and verbal

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Employee must be able to sit for extended periods of time and have use of arms and hands in repetitive motion. A fair amount of standing and walking is also required for the position.
