FIRST CLASS LINEMAN
Talquin Electric Cooperative, Inc. is seeking qualified candidates for the position of 1st Class Lineman located in both our Tallahassee and Quincy locations!
The position requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Education must be sufficient to enable individual to satisfactorily understand and carry out job responsibilities in an efficient, effective, and safe manner. Must have a valid Class "A" commercial driver's license at all times. Must have successfully completed the Cooperative's Apprenticeship Program for Journeyman Lineman, or its equivalent, as determined by the Cooperative. A minimum of 5 years of progressive line crew experience may be substituted as an equivalent for completion of the Apprenticeship Program; however, the applicant would be required to complete the Cooperative’s Apprenticeship Program Post Hire. Must be able to charge-out and credit-in material from the staking sheets. Must be able to read electric circuit diagrams. Must be willing to perform the work of all positions subordinate to own. Must possess thorough knowledge of the National Electrical Safety Code, and the Cooperative Safety Manual. Must be able to supervise and have knowledge of human relations. Must have a thorough knowledge of the construction, maintenance, and operation of electric transmission and distribution systems, including substations.
Must be able to pass Cooperative physical examination as well as pre-employment drug screen and background check. Must live at a primary residence located within a 30 minute drive, as determined solely by management, of any Talquin Electric office facility.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Either with or without reasonable accommodation, must be able to sit, stand, stoop, kneel, use hands and fingers to operate equipment. Must be able to climb ladders, poles, and towers, and work from heights. Must be able to walk extended distances. Must be able to bend and squat repeatedly during the course of a normal work day. Must be able to lift and pull heavy wire. Must be able to lift ladders, tools, etc. and place in proper storage compartments, many of which are overhead. Must be able to lift and move materials and supplies up to 75 pounds. Must be able to perform duties in all types of weather. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
A. Perform duties in a safe, satisfactory, competent and timely manner.
B. Install lightning arrestors, circuit breakers, regulators, air break switches, sectionalizers, by- pass switches, and other types of special equipment.
C. Act as Lineman Chief in their absence.
D. Instruct subordinate positions in the proper work methods.
E. Install and connect multi-phase transformer banks.
F. Perform work on energized lines from a bucket, pole, or the ground.
G. Perform routine and emergency switching on lines and substations.
H. Perform afterhours work as needed and be included in the rotating on-call roster.
I. Perform other duties as assigned.
