JOB DEFINITION
The Quality Control Laboratory Technician position at TAM Ceramics conducts routine physical and chemical analysis of raw materials, in-process, and finished goods. Ultimately, the role of Quality Control Laboratory Technician is to ensure that TAM products meet all necessary requirements before they reach the customer.
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
· Performs laboratory analysis using prescribed techniques and verifies data validity.
· Calibration of instruments/devices prior to use, (Laser PSA, BET surface area, Fisher number, etc.)
· Collects and documents results, comparing them against established plant and customer specifications
· Analyze and gather data from samples submitted for analysis, entering results into QC database.
· Prepares samples for internal as well as external analytical testing
· Archiving and disposal of samples; recognizing instrumental and equipment problems while assisting with or performing routine maintenance service and repairs of instruments and equipment, as well as maintaining, and ordering supplies/materials when necessary
· Obtaining analytical testing schedules and priorities through communication with plant production and engineering groups
· Maintains the cleanliness of all laboratory equipment and work areas
· Collaborates closely with other departments such as production, research and development, and quality assurance to troubleshoot issues and propose improvements
· Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
· Proven work experience as a Laboratory Technician or similar role
· Experience in operating and maintaining laboratory equipment
· Hands-on experience with the use of quality testing equipment and methodologies
SKILLS
· Well organized and detail oriented
· Strong verbal and oral communication skills
· Good mathematical skills and basic computer skills (i.e., Microsoft office, database programs etc.)
· Ability to work with precision and accuracy
· Effective time management skills to successfully manage priorities, turnaround time, and production requirements
· Works well independently and in a team environment.
· Diagnose and perform minor repairs and upkeep of instrumentation.
SAFETY COMPLIANCE
· Follow company safety rules and policies, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
· Notify direct supervision when a hazardous condition or dangerous situation is encountered
