What are the responsibilities and job description for the Surveillance Observer position at Tamarack Casino?
JOB SUMMARY
The Surveillance Observer is responsible for overseeing the monitoring of casino activities, property and people including, but not limited to, Casino Guest Services/Sportsbook, Count, Slots, Bars and Restaurants to promote safety, accountability with policies and procedures, identify suspicious activity, and deter fraud and theft.
The surveillance team is expected to exercise good care in the handling of sensitive material, including both written reports and speaking to other employees, vendors, law enforcement, etc.
SCHEDULE: 32hrs w/ 2 graveyard shifts 2 swing shifts **flexibility preferred to cover a 5th day as needed**
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Operate various video technology to monitor and review casino activities, archive audio and video evidence and monitor the system for malfunctions
- Proactively monitor all areas of the property and personnel focusing on asset protection, safety and compliance
- Complete detailed documentation, logs and reports
- Maintain thorough working knowledge of the organizations Emergency Action Plan in order to effectively and efficiently handle fires, evacuations, robberies, bomb threats, etc. in the most professional manner possible.
- Maintain and develop knowledge of gaming compliance, company policies, procedures and threats in all areas which Surveillance is responsible for monitoring
- Cooperate with the local gaming authority and coordinate with and/or assist other law enforcement agencies as necessary
- Assist management with enforcing all local, state, federal and gaming laws or ordinances when applicable
- Maintain a positive and professional demeanor during all interactions with guests, employees, vendors, etc.
- Keeps management informed of all pertinent information regarding surveillance activities and irregularities
- Keep the Surveillance team and any necessary parties informed across all shifts including equipment difficulties, ongoing situations in the casino, changes in the casino, etc.
- Maintain the safety, cleanliness and organization of the surveillance room and equipment
- Performs other duties as requested or assigned
REQUIREMENTS
- Must have extensive knowledge in the operation and use of digital surveillance systems
- Previous Surveillance experience required
- Must have excellent computer skills
- Must have excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Must pay attention to detail
- Must excel in retaining and recalling information
- Must understand and be able to apply all applicable laws, policies and procedures
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
- Ability to work under pressure, respond quickly, maintain composure and take action as necessary
- Must possess sound, mature judgment
- Must have flexibility to work any shift, including weekends and holidays
- Must be at least 21 years of age

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES
- Must be able to obtain and maintain NV Gaming Registration (renewed every 5 years)
- CPR and Advanced First Aid certification preferred
